Okay, let me rant about SIA first before I do my Cairns trip on the next post.
So, I went to Singapore Airlines Ticketing Office in Ion Orchard to purchase my tickets going to Taipei and back from Hong Kong cause I don't have a credit card and I am using my Mum's card.
Reasons why I didn't buy it online with my mum's credit card: Because SIA requires you to sign a IOL/consent form thingy if you are paying but not travelling, which is a pain in the ass.
Anyway, wanted to get the tickets from the office and before processing the ticketing lady said "Oh, if you are purchasing from us, we have to charge you an additional $75 so it's more expensive than the $818 you wrote here." I stared at her and said "$75?! Whatever for?!" And she just said "Cause we are the head office so....." and I said "This kind of thing never happened when I was in Australia. Forget it, I am going to buy it online."
Mum asked about the IOL thing and she said that we have to go back there after we buy the tickets online and they will verify the card and give it to us. And I remembered seeing something about an electronic IOL so I asked her since there's no way I am going back to that office and she said "Oh right, yes, you can do that..."
Mum and I both said a version of "What's the point of having this office here, if people can buy their tickets online without being charged an extra $75?! It's a head office, all the more reason they shouldn't charge an extra transaction fee. You are just getting money off people that either don't have a credit card or internet or both!" All she could say was "Oh, we have internet facilities outside if you want to use it to buy the tickets."
I might be speculating here, but because I already checked the prices online and gave her the slip of paper to book the flights for me with the price written on it, then she tells me about the $75 fee. So I am thinking, if I hadn't know the price, would they still tell me about the transaction fee or not?
It's $75!? I can understand if the transaction fee was less than $10 but $75?! No way in hell am I paying for that~
After the lousy/cheap food and this incident. Singapore Airlines has made an impression on me, sure, it's the economy crisis (which I thought was over cause I heard it on the news) but must you do this?

WHEE! I AM BACK IN SINGAPORE!!!
-And super backdated on blogposts~ I know I know! I was just so overwhelmed by the whole relationship thing. 0.o"...Yes yes, an excuse, but a good one~ XD-
--------------------------------------------------
ANNNNDDD!!! I am going to Taiwan and Hong Kong in January! In about 2 weeks time, I will be in Taipei on Sunday (10th Jan) with Yang Hao playing host!
Not sure where I am staying though...Chef Hao, if you are reading this, haul your ass online sometime at night sometime after Tuesday or drop me a FB msg!!! And I have a Christmas/New Year present for you as well~ =d
Then on the 15th it's off to Hong Kong I go to see Phoenix! He's heading back from Aust on the same day, and our flights are only 10mins apart with me touching down first! We get to see each other before even getting out of customs. XD I miss my XOXOs~ Probably staying over at his place~ ^^ My Cantonese sucks...Someone help me~ DISNEYLAND!!
Heading back to Singapore on the night of the 21st. So it pretty much means I get 5 full "useable" days in each place.
-------------------------------------------------
The day before I got back to Singapore -23rd Dec- I got really sick, and I am guessing it's a type of stomach flu or food poisoning. I woke up really tired, with a headache + unsteadiness when I walk + bloated tummy + slight fever and really bad nausea which I suspect was from the too many cream cheese + rice thins I had the night before. Blargh, I will never look at either of them the same way again.
Went to the pharmacy and they said that I need prescriptions for any anti-nausea pills, so I went to UQ clinic. Spent 30mins at the sick bay, sleeping, then the doc came and saw me, found the symptoms weird, sent me back to sick bay and she wants to do a urine and blood test + give me a maxalon (or smth) jab. Got Phoenix to come in to accompany me...Injection hurt like hell, blood test stung...I hate needles and the room was bloody cold, froze my butt off.
Then they still couldn't find what's wrong with me and asked weird questions that seem to have nothing to do with my stomach or nausea. 0.o"... Gave me anti-vomit pills and something for anti-dehydration, then I was sent home to feel miserable. Took an anti-vomit pill and slept the rest of the day till dinner time (with Phoenix nearby using his laptop), and I still felt really sleepy. Must be some really powerful sleeping pill. 0.o"
Phoenix took us to Brisbane Powerhouse for dinner, the food was really good but cause I was feeling really sick, I only literally ate 2 mouthfuls and wanted to puke. What a waste...And the view is really awesome too! Sigh~ he says we are going there again though, so I will wait till then.
Got home, made a strange but yummy concoction of porridge that I added dried shrimp, salt, sesame oil (just a drop), beaten eggs, then Joe's 甜酒豆腐乳 and 肉鬆. Felt much better after that, prolly the 甜酒豆腐乳 (ultimate comfort food for the sick asian). Fell asleep in Phoenix's arms then woke up to continue packing my stuff, left for the airport, had brekkie, last XOXO then boarded the plane and back to Singapore I came, still feeling rather sick.
Surprisingly, the food on the flight this time SUCKED! I always loved SIA's food cause they were normally pretty good. This time I had the Scrambled Eggs with Bacon and Baked Potatoes for the LUNCH (it's more like Continental Breakfast, the other choice -Chicken Noodles- were out) and it was just gross, the eggs were powdery and tasteless, bacon was tough. The Aussie that sat next to me left half of it untouched as well.
The refreshment was either fried rice or pie. Should've gone for the pie...Fried rice was too oily, too salty and really dry! Even I make better fried rice than that.
SIA has been getting on my nerves. Will post the reason next time! Stupid redundant SIA head Office at ION Orchard. =.="
ANYWAYS...Sorry about not updating on the Cairns trip yet. I promise I will! Tomorrow, before my grandma's birthday dinner I will update on Cairns even if it's just abit!

=D, Not in chronological order~
The trip had plenty of walks/hikes and backpackers aren't as bad as I thought they would be. Except that we only really stayed in one backpackers hostel, a couple of caravan parks (the cabins), and a few motels. OH and a cabin that's converted from train carriages, that was pretty cool except it didn't have air-conditioning....
Will be getting some photos from Phoenix before you guys scream at me for not having any shots of myself...XD
Well, I will go back to studying for my supp paper now. I will be blogging about the trip in more detail, with plenty of photos, maybe tomorrow or the day after. ^^ I have like 5.11GB of photos (in their original size) from the trip and I am downsizing them now~
